Spotlight Interview & Undercover Desires

Today, 20th November, I am a guest over at Lori King's blog. Check out my interview at http://lorikingbooks.wordpress.com/2012/11/19/in-the-spotlight-marie-jermy/

Sales for Lust in the First Degree have not been brilliant, but you won't find me complaining. Whether it's one book sold or 100, it's nice to see people reading the books that I've loved writing. As for reviews? I've had one from fellow Siren author Jan Bowles. She gave it 5 stars. Bless you, Jan. I really appreciate it.

My latest book Undercover Desires now stands at the 40k mark. Apart from some brain dead moments, it's coming along nicely. I believe another 2 chapters and it will be finished. By the time I've edited and polished it ready to be submitted, I'm hoping it will be 50k. However, I'm not at all happy with the last sex scene in the book. I don't know what it is but something's missing. Also the ensuing "pillow talk" is so naff, it's laughable. More work is needed on these areas. But I don't want to go overboard otherwise I'll be rolling my eyes more times than Ana in Fifty Shades of Grey!

Undercover Desires

At the moment I'm working on Undercover Desires. It's almost 30k, but once again, I find myself with a Titanic mental block. Oh, well. No doubt it will go. When? I don't have the foggiest.

Lust in the First Degree (The Andersons 4) has a release date of 18th November, which is almost a year since the release of Together Forever, the first in the Andersons series.

I honestly can't believe what I have achieved since April 2011 when I submitted my very first book Secret Eyes to Siren. The rejections from Mills and Boon are a distant memory now. I wonder if they are kicking themselves for rejecting not only Secret Eyes, but Together Forever and Animal Instincts. Probably not. Mills and Boon is a tough market to crack. Maybe, one day...

So what's next after Undercover Desires? Well, first off I think is the sequel to Secret Eyes. The title is Addiction. I keep getting ideas for chapters and my note book is stuffed full of them. I don't think I'm going to have a problem with Addiction.

Next, I think, will be Edge of Heaven.  That one maybe a bit trickier, but I'm sure a coffee and a chat with a very good friend of mine, Mark Ovens, will get that one written and submitted.

And then I plan to write another series. The Sins of Silver Creek. I have already written the first book! It was my very first book that I wrote, had it critiqued, edited it from suggestions made by a Mills and Boon editor (I kid you not) and now with a few tweaks here and there, and name changes for the characters, it's done. Yay!!

Lust in the First Degree

Following my stupid mistake when submitting to Siren but forgetting to attach the damned book, I resubmitted yesterday (Thursday 30th August) and today (31st) I received the acceptance email for publication. Yay. Happy dance! The tentative release date for the ebook is November 2012. The print version April 2013.
There might be a coincidence with its release date, because the first of the Andersons series - Together Forever - was released 18th November 2011. It will feel pretty special if the first and last of the series are released in the same month but a year apart. Fingers crossed.

Lust in the First Degree

Lust in the First Degree was submitted to Siren last night. Fingers crossed.

My next project is a book called Undercover Desires. I haven't looked at this book for about a year. I've already done 26000 plus words before I went and typed the Andersons series. When I looked at it last night, what I'd written made me laugh and cry. Laugh because some of the dialogue is laugh out loud in a good way. Cried because I had to go through all 111 pages and delete a space after each full stop. You see when I worked for the police typing statements etc, I was told to always put 2 spaces after a full stop. So for 18 years I did this. It was so instilled in my brain that I did it at home with letters etc. I also did it for  my first book to be published - Secret Eyes. When I got the edits back, I noticed only one space after a full stop, the other one my editor had deleted. Therefore from then on I adopted the one space after a full stop approach. I've done it for all my books apart from Undercover Desires. But then again, like I said, I hadn't looked at it for about a year. At the end of the 111 pages my hands were hurting from deleting all those spaces! But it's done now and I can now read through what I've written, edit if need be, and then carry on finishing it.

After Undercover Desires, my next books to be written are Addiction and Edge of Heaven. I don't know which one to write first, though. Then I want to write another series called Sins of Silver Creek. The first book is already half written. I have two more books planned for the series, and then I'll see how it goes. Sometimes it's not easy thinking of story lines that are original and different from what I've already written. I have ideas for two other series, too, but at this point in time, I have just the titles and not much else.

Have fallen victim to internet scam

Yep, folks, I should have known better but the email from Amazon looked so convincing. Alarm bells did ring when I typed in my password and instead of seeing dots, I actually saw my password. Suffice to say I didn't include that. Did include my bank card number though. Stupid stupid. Have cancelled my bank cards and am waiting for the new one. I also opened a new account just in case! At the minute though, no fraudulent transctions have been made.
The scam did leave a nasty trojan and virus that myself and the good people at BT IT helpdesk had sorted out. Until that is, I tried to access my Amazon account to check an order. This time my whole internet connection was lost. I think somehow it deleted the wireless signal or something. I'm useless at computers so that's only guesswork. At the moment my laptop is in the hands of Paynes Computers. Those guys are the best. They are confident my laptop will be its old self come Sunday. God I hope so. I never realised how much I relied on my computer until I lost it. Now Richard has to go to Tesco in person to do our weekly shop! Something we haven't done since Alice was 2 months old. She's now nearly 7!
I need my laptop because my latest book Lust in the First Degree is now complete, just a few bits of polishing, but it's ready to be submitted to Siren. It's the fourth and final book of the Andersons series and is the hottest thing I have ever written.
Well, I'd better sign off now. I'm using a library computer and my time is almost up. Thank God for libraries! As Arnie said "I'll be back."
